RheEnergise is now seeking a skilled Finance Officer / Bookkeeper to support our finance function at the Canadian subsidiary, with a unique opportunity to work amongst the exciting research and development of our technology and the engineers making it happen.  

About the Role

The overall objective of the role is to perform accounting and reporting as a key support to the day-to-day financial operations within the business. You will be playing an important role in cash management, bookkeeping, and financial reporting, during an exciting time in our company’s growth and step toward commercialisation.

Within this role, you will be supporting areas such as monthly management accounts and reporting, bank reconciliations, bookkeeping entries, cash calls, supporting SRED and grant reporting, procurement, expenses processing, journal entries, general ledgers, and payroll. As part of a growing startup, you will have the opportunity to engage in process management, with input in day-to-day practices.

This is a part-time role with flexible scheduling. We encourage candidates who are able to work reduced hours spread over four days each week, including at least one day in the office. We offer a flexible work policy designed to support individual needs while ensuring strong collaboration with the team.

This role will report into the UK based Financial Controller and work alongside the Canadian and UK teams


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Qualifications: Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Business Administration or Completion of two years (first level) of a recognised professional accounting program or experience with courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk
  • Experience: Experience in accounting and finance or similar role, with some knowledge of Canadian GAAP basics, GST/HST filings, payroll fundamentals, year-end preparation for accountants, account reconciliations, and posting journal entries
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively present financial information to stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CRA filings (GST/HST, payroll remittances), knowledge of cloud accounting workflows, understanding of internal controls, familiarity with SME accounting (if relevant)
